The Miami Premier Padel P1 2026 concluded the first round of its main men’s draw (round of 32) on Tuesday, and almost the entire women’s draw (round of 16).
With the women’s competition now focused on Thursday — when the world’s top four will make their debut — only two first-round matches remain to be played on Wednesday. Both will kick off at 10:00 a.m. local time, with the No. 8 seeds, Marina Guinart and Verónica Virseda — semifinalists at the Cancún P2 — facing the Americans Brittany Dubins and Marta Morga.
The other match marks the long-awaited return of Aranza Osoro and Victoria Iglesias (No. 10), who missed the Gijón and Cancún tournaments due to ‘La Vikinga’s’ injury. They will face the No. 9 seeds, Carmen Goenaga and Bea Caldera, in one of the closest encounters of the round.
The rest of the round of 16 was decided on Tuesday, including wins for the No. 5, 6, and 7 seeds. All advanced without major surprises: Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen moved through comfortably, while Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo — also semifinalists in Cancún — allowed few chances to Rodríguez-Dal Pozzo (6-0, 6-3). Meanwhile, the ‘Alejandras,’ Alonso and Salazar, recorded a solid 6-3, 6-3 win over Borrero-Sharifova.
THE WORLD’S BEST TAKE THE COURT
In the men’s draw, the first round closed according to plan: no major surprises, with the rankings asserting themselves. Among the results, the elimination of Americans Felipe Osses and Chris Humphreys stood out; despite a strong performance, they fell to Pol Hernández and Guille Collado (6-2, 6-3). With that, no North American players remain in the men’s draw.
On Wednesday, the 16 seeded players will enter directly into the round of 16. All eyes will be on the world No. 1s, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, dominant so far this season with two titles in three tournaments. Their main rivals, the No. 2 seeds, Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto — reigning Miami champions and defending their title from the tournament’s inaugural edition — will also make their debut.
THE WOMEN’S TOP 4 AWAIT
The women’s top four will not compete until Thursday. That is when the No. 1 seeds, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, who have enjoyed a brilliant start to the year, will take to the court, alongside other top contenders such as Paula Josemaría / Bea González, Ariana Sánchez / Andrea Ustero, and Sofia Araújo / Claudia Fernández.
With the first round behind them, the tournament moves into its decisive phase, following a day that confirmed the dominance of the leading pairs and set the stage for a highly anticipated Wednesday.
