Kicking things off were the world’s top-ranked duo, Sanchez-Josemaria, who once again demonstrated their consistency and technical prowess. Their opponents, the 6th-seeded Ustero-Alonso, put up a solid fight in the first set but ultimately succumbed to the stronger team in the second, with the match ending 6-1 after 1 hour and 13 minutes of play.
The clash between the 4th seed, Ortega-Araujo, and the 5th seed, Sainz-Llaguno, was less balanced than expected. The Spanish-Portuguese pair triumphed with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory in 83 minutes, largely thanks to their impressive 70% win rate on serve and their confident returns.
MEN’S QUARTERFINALS – The men’s quarterfinals also delivered top-tier entertainment. This morning, “Juan y Bela” court witnessed a commanding performance from Chingotto-Galan, who defeated the formidable Martin Di Nenno and Javi Garrido in just under 1 hour and 20 minutes. It’s a great positive for us professional players to see packed stands”.
In the semifinals, “Chingalan” will face the tournament’s 4th-seeded duo, Yanguas-Nieto, who emerged victorious from a fiercely contested quarterfinal against Leal-Gutierrez. After 1 hour and 35 minutes of intense action, they clinched a 6-4, 7-6 win, thrilling the enthusiastic crowd.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s semifinal, Yanguas emphasized the importance of adapting: “We’ll need to adjust to the central court, where we haven’t played yet. How will we approach the match? With aggressive attacking and solid defense. We’re in great form right now, and we have to seize this opportunity, though they’re playing exceptionally well.” Coki Nieto also expressed his gratitude to the fans at the Miami Beach Convention Center: “The atmosphere is electric! There are lots of Americans here, but also many Latin Americans from Venezuela, Ecuador, and other countries, drawn by the sport. North, Central, or South America—it doesn’t matter. The U.S. always shows up in full force”.
