One player will be playing the motorola razr Miami Premier Padel P1 right at home. And he’s no ordinary player – he’s the world number 1, Arturo Coello. The Spanish star has chosen to live and train in Florida when he’s not traveling the world for tournaments. Born in Valladolid on March 8, 2002, Coello is a dominant force in the circuit, alongside his partner Agustin Tapia. Coello is from Spain, while Tapia, from Argentina, is known as “the Mozart of Catamarca” – a nickname that highlights his unpredictable ability to pull off shots that leave the other top padel players astonished.
Together, Coello and Tapia have won 14 titles out of the 24 available on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour 2024, and they kicked off 2025 by reclaiming the Riyadh trophy, which they had lost in the final of the last tournament of 2024. From July to December, Coello and Tapia went on an incredible 47-match winning streak, which was ended in the Barcelona Finals by Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz. These two will also be among the most awaited players at the Miami Beach Convention Center — but with new partners. Nieto, a 26-year-old Spaniard, has teamed up with compatriot Miguel ‘Mike’ Yanguas (who will turn 23 on March 18). Meanwhile, Sanz has partnered up with Jeronimo ‘Momo’ Gonzalez.
The only pair that managed to challenge Coello and Tapia in 2024 was the Argentine Federico Chingotto and the Spaniard Ale Galan. They will close out their first year as a team in Miami. The ‘Chingalan’ duo formed in Puerto Cabello in March 2024, after the end of the partnership between Galan and Juan Lebron—a duo that made padel history with 33 titles. In 2024, Chingotto and Galan won five titles, while Galan also added one with Lebron earlier in the season. This year, Galan will return to Miami as a right-side player, teaming up with Franco Stupaczuk, an Argentine nicknamed “El Polaco” for his origins. Stupaczuk is one of the most exciting players to watch in Miami, and his pairing with Lebron (after the trophy lifted in Cancun) is expected to be a major challenge to Coello and Tapia.
Another pair dreaming of a starring role in Florida is Martin Di Nenno and Javi Garrido – another Argentine-Spanish duo. Meanwhile, Lucas Bergamini will proudly fly the Brazilian flag; he played with Garrido in the second half of 2024, will join forces with one of the most beloved idols in the padel world, Paquito Navarro.
As with every Premier Padel tournament, there are always new duos ready to shake things up and compete for the win. Pablo Cardona, the 2004-born Spaniard, and his Argentine peer Leo Augsburger (who, along with another rising star, Tino Libaak, delivered the match that helped Argentina win the FIP World Championships against Spain in Doha in November 2024) have already made it to the semifinals in Riyadh. Libaak, too, has started a new journey with Juan Tello, eager to return to his best form in 2025.
